Last week we presented the first part of different word-games based on or inspired by Scrabble. If you are missing one special game you will now have the chance to find it in this weeks article.
Jumble
Known from TV and newspapers is Jumble. No grid or board is required, but you still need to create words from letters. To help you solving the puzzle a special clue is given: a drawing. An American TV game show based on Jumble was hosted by game show veteran Wink Martindale in 1994. Additionally, Jumble puzzles are often found in newspapers.
Text Twist
Similar to Jumble is the Java game Text Twist. Six scrambled letters are given and have to be used to form as many words as possible. You must find at least one six-letter word using all the letters to get to the next round.
Literati
Another word game provided by the American internet corporation „Yahoo!“ is called Literati. No new rules, quite familiar game structure: 15×15 grid, different values, starts in the center of the board, player with the highest score wins.
Chicktionary
The chicken-themed online game Chicktionary is available on Microsoft’s search page. According to Fox news releasing this game in 2007 helped Microsoft to boost their search ratings.
The goal is to find 11 three-letter words, 10 four-letter words, 10 five-letter words, 3 six-letter words and 1 seven letter-word. Each time a player creates a word from the letters displayed by a group of hens, the game triggers a related Web search.
Boggle
Based on the Hasbro-Classic but slightly different is Boggle. It is a word game for any number of players that can be bought in store or played online. To find words you have to shake a 4×4 tray of 16 cubes with different letters printed on each side. Additionally, Boggle has one cube with QU printed as the chances of a Q and U falling the same time is very rare.
